Description
This piece was several years in the making. I left a roughly 4′ section of maple log laying (lying? I don’t remember) in the woods for a few years, then roughly shaped it with a chainsaw and left it for another year. Then, to the shop, where it dried out for a few years more. Then, finally, I worked the shape you see here. The spalting in this piece is quite striking, even in the end grain upon which you might set something to show it off. Or, leave it bare and let it show itself off.
